The Prospex Alpinist SPB117 has an all-black dial that foregoes the use of Arabic numerals in favor of a "shark's tooth"-style layout, with inverted, triangular hour markers. The matte black dial is brought to life by a single line of red text for the water resistance indicator – a reference to Alpinist watches from the mid-1990s – and it is the only model of the 2020 range to come on a stainless steel bracelet. This is a different bracelet design than what is typically found on Seiko dive watches, and it benefits from having an entirely solid construction. It's comfortable and good looking, and it features a micro-adjustment clasp – what more could you ask for in a bracelet at this price point? On that note, the SPB117 is priced at $750, which is quite the value proposition when you consider it is only $25 more than the new Alpinist models on straps.
