The Seiko Prospex "Alpinist" SPB123, has a cream colored dial with applied golden numerals and hour markers. The off-white dial has a sunburst finish that immediately catches the eye. Despite its sports watch background, one of the calling cards of the Alpinist has been its ability to successfully cross over to more formal attire, another aspect of the watch's enduring charm. That is on full display here, as the champagne tone of the dial combines with the pronounced gold markers to make the Alpinist, in this design, more luxury oriented than ever before. While Seiko has paired the SPB123 with an attractive green calfskin strap on a deployant clasp, it's easy to imagine the SPB123 looking great on any number of different NATO or leather straps. For example, a Black Shell Cordovan strap will highlight the gilt accents and bring out the contrast of the creamy dial, while a dark brown NATO will better complement outdoor apparel.
